Rec Room is now closed. In its official March 30 announcement, School's Out for Rec Room, Rec Room said the platform would close at 12:00 pm Pacific time on June 1, 2026. That cutoff has now passed.
The shutdown applies to player access to Rec Room, the rec.net website, and online services related to Rec Room Studio. Rec Room's Terms notice uses broader closure language, saying Rec Room, Rec Room Studio, and all Rec Room applications offered through the Rec Room UGC social app platform would close and no longer be accessible or available effective 12:00 pm PT on June 1, 2026.
What Rec Room Announced
Rec Room said players would no longer be able to log in and play after the June 1 shutdown time. The company also said rec.net would go offline and online services related to Rec Room Studio would stop.
For creators, Rec Room's pre-shutdown guidance was time-sensitive. The company said players could download photos and a final avatar report card, while creators could export room, invention, and cloud data through the Steam PC build. Rec Room also said creators could not download working copies of rooms.
